Haverfordwest VC

Year’s 5 and 6 from Haverfordwest VC took part in a mini beast hunt and microscope workshop on Friday.  We managed to get a video of a beetle eating a woodlouse, check it out below.

Rockpooling With Little Elms

The pupils from Little Elms came with us to Lydstep for a spot of rockpooling followed by a microscope workshop.  They had the chance to look at all sorts under the microscope – including their own snot!!!

Plankton Workshops

Marine Litter Workshop

Years 3 and 4 from Hakin school all participated in a follow up workshop to their day litter picking at Gelliswick.

68 pupils from years 3 and 4 at Hakin school had a successful day litter picking at Gelliswick!  

The Welsh Wildlife Centre Cilgerran

30 pupils from Cilgerran VC school came with us to The Welsh Wildlife Centre which is part of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.  Half of the morning was spent pond dipping and the other half was spent on a bug hunt with a chance to look at the creatures under a microscope.

Hubberston School @ Gelliswick

Year’s 3 and 4 came with us to Gelliswick to take advantage of the 0.26 Metre low tide on Thursday 29th September.  They found a huge selection of creatures including 8 different species of crab!    

An afternoon was spent at Newport Sands with Ysgol Bro Ingli and Llanychllwydog.  We rummaged around the rock pools before seine netting in the shallows.   

River Sampling With Wolfscastle School

We took the juniors from Wolfscastle School to Brandy Brook in Newgale to do some kick sampling and river profiling.   The creatures that were found during the kick sampling were recorded and the biotic index was calculated during a follow up workshop.
